SKETCHING AND OBJECT STUDIES
Detailed object analysis focusing on the effect of lighting and shadows marked the beginning of preparations for explorative icon studies. Various directions of emphasis were explored. Icon creation continued with iterative sketches that simplified the object's complex features. At a glance, viewers should understand the object depicted and how its composition relates to its purpose or unique features.
DIGITAL EXPLORATION
The most successful sketches were scanned and transferred into Adobe Illustrator to further refine and iterate upon. Four options were developed for critique.
DIGITAL ITERATION
An iterative expansion of the two most successful icons explored potential directions in black and white. Two options were selected to develop in color.
