PLANNING & RESEARCH STAGE
Early research on visual directions aimed to prepare a thorough design brief, as well as typeface studies and informational hierarchy studies. These preparation phases assist in materializing the end result.
SKETCHING: BUILDING COMPONENTS
Individual sections of the airline interface were outlined through assorted stylized icons and unique typographic compositions. This process began with simple icons, or atoms, and progressed to complex interfaces, or organisms.
DIGITAL INTERFACE DEVELOPMENT
To create interfaces from the sketches, atoms were combined into organisms digitally. Three directions were created exploring potential layouts, typefaces, and icons.
APPLYING A DESIGN SYSTEM
One interface option was developed further utilizing a design system, which establishes a typographic family, color palette, and 'kit of parts'. Before finalizing, a series of hands-on accessibility and visibility tests were performed to ensure any legibility issues could be mended.
